The Los Feliz Charter School for the Arts (LFCSA) is a community of motivated parents, highly qualified educators, and diverse students guided by the principle of project-based learning as the driving element of creating “multiple intelligence” lifelong learners.

Since our launch in 2005, our community has achieved enormous strides toward our mission to become the only arts-based public elementary school in Los Angeles creating progressive in-school and after-school educational experiences that define us as an inspirational educational model for our city and nation.

In furthering these ambitions for excellence we have adopted a formal Founding Families Initiative.

What is a LFCSA Founding Family?

LFCSA Founding Families will help us advance our mission priorities in a manner that represents considerable cost savings to LFCSA.

These individuals will have skill sets and resources supporting our goals and community needs. In no particular order, and not limited to, these include: Site Needs – engaging architects, contractors, landscapers, and the like; Fundraising needs – leading fundraising efforts or creating fundraising events; Project Management – being a leader and running various parent volunteer committees i.e., social events, family support, green initiative, etc.

Please Note: Families choosing consideration as a Founding Family do so with the understanding that selection is a highly competitive process, requiring a substantial commitment of time and resources, and does NOT guarantee enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

In managing our facility, our governing Board, Educators and School Site Council set both short-term and long-term priorities. Consequently, the optimal union of candidate skill and resources with LFCSA’s short-term priorities is a significant element of eligibility and selection:

Candidate skill set/resources offered
+
# hours able to commit
+
LFCSA short-term needs

Strongest candidates will provide services which:

  • Advance one or more short-term priorities from LFCSA’s two-year goals
  • Represent considerable cost savings to LFCSA

Strongest candidates will commit to the following Term of Service & Deliverables timeline:

  • Term of service must be initiated by March 2010
  • A demonstrated completion rate of 50% must be met by July 2010
  • The service outcome must be in use/practice at time of enrollment September 2010

Final selection as a LFCSA Founding Family entitles each demonstrated “Community Leader” to the following enrollment eligibility:

Preference in public random drawing held March 2010 for Kindergarten school year starting September 2010.
