DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES

To avoid confusion and unnecessary traffic, please note and follow the above times for drop-off and pick up for each grade.

SIBLINGS EXEPTION: However, if siblings are attending the school, you may, of course, drop off and pick up those children all at once. Supervision will be provided for those children by the school during that overlapping time. For example, if you have a kindergartener and third-grader, you may drop off both at 8:15, knowing your third-grader will participate in supervised play until his or her start time at 9:00. Or if, for example, you have a first-grader and a fourth-grader, your first-grader will participate in supervised play from their end time at 2:20 until you pick up both children after fourth grade ends at 3:00.

However … if you need any longer period of care in the afternoon for your am kindergartener or extended care in the morning for your pm kindergartener, you will need to make separate arrangements (for a fee) with E3. (See “Before- and After-School Care” below).

DROP OFF AND PICK UP TRAFFIC FLOW INFORMATION

NEW Pedestrian Policy
In an effort to simplify the drop off and pick up process, parents are asked to use the car transportation driveway to drop off and pick up their students.  Alternatively, you may pick up your child in the NEW pedestrian line next to the outside auditorium entrance, behind the orange cones. Please form an orderly single line. Both the car lane and pedestrian line will be served simultaneously.

The following are the only exceptions and the only individuals who will be using the pedestrian gate:

• Families who walk or use public transportation to get their students to and from school on a regular basis, and have made arrangements with the office to use the pedestrian gate on Selma Avenue.

• If there is an instance when you need to drop your student off after school starts or before his or her school day ends, (such as a doctor’s appointment) you may use the pedestrian gate.

• Parents picking up a child from E3 at a time other than 3:00.

CAR TRANSPORTATION LANE INFO

Directions:
• Please drive WEST only on Selma Avenue, making a right to enter the drive, then exiting Cherokee after dropping or receiving your student.

• Please do not “cut in front” of those cars in line on Selma by entering Selma via a left turn from Cassil, or a left turn into the drive while heading East on Selma.

• While in line, please keep ALL red zones and the entire intersection (with two crosswalks) free. YOU WILL GET FINED BY DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION IF YOU BLOCK THESE AREAS.

• Please look for the end of the line, making sure not to cut in front of those who are simply leaving red zones clear, or waiting at a green light so as not to block the intersection.

• Please respect traffic lights, other parents from our school (as well as any who might be present from Selma), be aware of pedestrians and especially children. THIS IS A SCHOOL ZONE.

DROP-OFF PICK-UP PROCEDURE

In the morning, you do not need to get out of your car. A staff member will help your students out of your car and walk them into the secured play yard (auditorium in inclement weather), where they will be escorted to their classrooms by their teachers right before their class’ start time.

In the afternoon, your child will be waiting (and supervised) in the auditorium. Once you pull up to the drive, you will let the staff member know all the students in your carpool. The staff member will bring them safely to your car.

Please arrive at the appropriate time to drop off and pick up your child. Please follow the traffic pattern delineated above. And above all, please be aware to help everyone assure the safety of our students and others.

BEFORE- AND AFTER-SCHOOL CARE

Again, LFCSA will provide supervised care for siblings during those short, overlapping times mentioned above (See Drop Off and Pick Up Times).

Otherwise, extended, fee-based care will be made available before school (for those students attending pm kindergarten) and after school.  This care will be made available by E3, the same organization that we have been working with for the last two years.

Kindergarten AM/PM Enrichment
8:30 am – 11:30 am (For am kindergarteners)
11:45 am – 3:00  (For pm kindergarteners)

After-School Enrichment Kindergarten – Fourth Grade
2:20 pm- 6:00 pm

PICK UP
If your student is completing E3 at 3:00, please pick them up using the car transportation driveway. Otherwise, please pick them up by buzzing in at the pedestrian gate, entering the school and signing them out.

For more information, including pricing and enrollment, please contact E3 at www.enrichmentkids.com. Or call 818-989-7509.

LUNCH AND SNACK

Lunch
Children may bring their lunch or purchase a lunch and milk from our provider Revolution Food. For more information about purchasing a lunch and milk, please contact our office.

Snack
Families of all students, regardless of grade, are encouraged to pack a small snack. All students will be given a designated time to enjoy their snack.

BACK PACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Backpacks and Other Items
Students are encouraged to NOT bring backpacks to school.  If the parent requests that they bring one, we will accommodate the need.

In addition, we ask that students please not bring toys, games, balls, etc to school.

School Supplies
There is no need for students to bring school supplies to school. We have purchased the materials they need and will notify you if other resources are needed for special projects.

Lunch Boxes/Jackets
Students may, of course, bring lunches, lunch boxes, jackets, etc. to school and will be provided a safe place to store these items.
