SUMMER BUILD DAYS

SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS

August 20th and 21st

Shifts are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (includes clean up). Sign up for at least one shift.

Every skill level welcome! Come work with fellow parents to improve the school and earn volunteer hours.  We have many fun projects in need of completion this summer to help build out for 6th grade, add acoustics to the space, improve the outdoors with fencing, water, and shade (thanks to jog-a-thon funds you raised through the PTA!) and build the garden (thanks to a garden grant awarded to the the Garden Committee!).  Please put the above bi-weekly dates into your summer calendars and show up to work a half-day shift on any of these dates.

MATERIALS NEEDED/PROCUREMENT

• Shelves (single or set)
• Plants
• Tectum and Homasote wall panels
• Acoustic ceiling panels with a high STC rating
• 1/2” and 3/4” plywood
• Deft Clear Wood Sealer or similar
• Felt, velvet, or other thick, sound absorbing fabrics
• Redwood or other types of exterior wood
• 2×4’s or other lumber

ABOUT THE BUILD COMMITTEE

The Build Committee is a volunteer team of parents and local community members with architectural, design, contracting, landscaping, organizing and materials acquisition expertise.

Reporting to the new director of operations and liason to the landlord, the Build Committee is responsible for long term strategic planning; assessing and addressing building repair and improvements both large and small; and receiving, evaluating and prioritizing project proposals. A committee member will be attached to lead, budget, create funding vision and manage each chosen project from inception to completion.

The Build Committee meets monthly.
