Andrew Greene, 3rd Grade Faculty Member

Andrew Greene was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley.  He learned from an early age that he had a true affinity for performing in front of others, as he nabbed the lead roles in all of his schools’ plays in 5th through 8th grades. As a freshman in high school, he learned what a bit part was.  He continued to perform at school and in local rock bands until he stumbled upon what would become his true passion in college…forensics.

Forensics, or competitive speech and debate, allowed Mr. Greene to travel around the country for four years as he competed for Los Angeles Valley College and then California State University at Los Angeles, respectively.  He was immediately compelled to pass on to others what he had gained from his experience – the confidence to be well-spoken in front of others.  He has been coaching college students since 1995.

After receiving his bachelor of arts in History, Mr. Greene planned on obtaining his teaching credential.  However, the rapid success he found in advertising sales led him in another direction.  By 2003, a debilitating auto accident and the birth of his son had him rethinking his path.  He moved to Iowa with his wife and son, attained a second bachelor of arts in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa and began teaching 4th grade.

Three years in Iowa proved to be enough of an adventure for the Greene family.  Family, friends and the warm California sun lured Mr. Greene back in 2008.  For the last three years he has taught a wide variety of students in both Anaheim and South Los Angeles.

The 2011-2012 school year will be his third year in a row teaching 3rd grade.  He is extremely excited to begin his work with the 3rd graders at Los Feliz Charter School for the Arts.  He hopes to share his knowledge of public speaking with not only his students, but also all of the children attending LFCSA.

Mr. Greene is also a life-long learner, and is currently in the process of obtaining his master’s degree at California State University at Dominguez Hills.  When he is not teaching or planning lessons, he enjoys reading with his wife, taking his dog to the beach and spending as much time as possible with his own little 2nd grader, Maxwell.
