Los Feliz Arts

Karen Newlin brings a great deal of experience to her position as the principal for Los Feliz Charter School for the Arts. A teacher, counselor and educational consultant, Ms. Newlin earned her first position as principal while still in her twenties. In 1996, the Association of California School Administrators named Ms. Newlin both Elementary Principal of the Year, as well as California Administrator of the Year. And in 1993, the California State Department of Education honored her as a California Distinguished Principal. Ms. Newlin received both her undergraduate and masters degree in School Administration from USC. She is also associated with such distinguished organizations as the J. Paul Getty Trust National Advisory Board, California State Department of Education and Los Angeles Art Association among others.
