I was born in Kellogg, Idaho, and I currently reside in Hollywood, CA.
I was homeschooled for kindergarten starting at age 4. The first semester of my first grade year was in Dexter, ME, and the second semester in Eagle, PA. I had a private tutor for the first half of second grade then I was enrolled in Colegio Monte Tabor, a public school in Nicaragua. I then transferred to Colegio Bautista, a private Christian school for all of third grade and the majority of fourth. I had one semester of 5th grade and one semester of 6th grade in Dexter, ME. Back to Colegio Bautista for a full year of 6th grade. 7th grade was through correspondence courses and I had one semester of 8th grade back in Dexter, ME. High School was all completed at Georges Valley High School. I went to Eastern University and got a BA in both French and Communications. I completed a Master’s of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and my credentialing was done through California State University, Los Angeles.
I believe that children learn from the context in which they are raised. Children learn from the things all around them. Children’s minds are sponges, absorbing information and rapidly processing it, sometimes not fully grasping concepts but filing experiences away for a later examination. Children learn by doing and by exposure to a variety of learning vehicles. Teachers are the guides who help children make meaning from what they are experiencing. Teachers are also the experts who provide additional support to students with different learning needs. The teacher creates the learning environment and the class culture that will captivate and engage students and promote growth. Children learn differently and develop differently, not every child is created the same. The teacher recognizes how each child learns best and creates learning experiences for that child according to his or her needs.
I am interested in family, theater, travel and reading books that will inspire me and take me on a journey. I love animals, blueberries and the ocean.
