WHY DO WE NEED TO RAISE FUNDS?
Los Feliz Charter for the Arts, like all charter schools in California, receives almost 30% less funding than an average district school. We receive approximately $40 a day for each student in attendance from public school coffers. While this provides the majority of our general budget, it does not cover all of the expenses of running a school—especially one as unique as ours. We depend on fundraising to fill a significant budget gap. This is why our success depends on the dedication of our school’s families and generous outside donations. Los Feliz Charter School for the Arts is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, therefore all donations are tax deductible.
THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL
ANNUAL GIVE : INVEST IN AMAZING!
As a charter school, only a portion of our financial need is fulfilled by state funds. The state currently pays a little more than $8,000 per pupil, 30% below the national average of $11,824. LFCSA relies on funding from parents to continue to provide high quality TK-6 education and arts integrated programs for our students. In 2014-2015 LFCSA families contributed $154,968 to our Annual Give Campaign with 97% participation!!!
We want more than just the basics for our students. To make LFCSA the special place it is, we ask you to make a contribution toward LFCSA special initiatives, including arts enrichment, cutting-edge professional development for our teachers, state-of-the-art classroom and computing technology, student support services and building upgrades.
When thinking about how much to give, we suggest that you make a donation that is meaningful for your family. Consider a 3% donation of your family’s annual income. Not all families will be in a position to give that 3%; please know that our principal goal is 100% participation at whatever level families are able. Please make a contribution at any level. Our goal is 100% family participation. We hope that you will make this school, which is so incredibly central in the life of your children, one of your primary places of charitable giving.
Make all checks payable to LFCSA and include “Annual Give” and Your Child’s Name in the memo area, along with the completed Annual Give Donation Form.
EMPLOYER MATCHING GIFTS PROGRAMS
You can double or triple your gift to LFCSA —at no extra cost to you! Many companies will match their employees’ (and sometimes even employee spouses’) donations to nonprofit organizations to significantly expand the value of an individual’s charitable gift. If your employer has a matching gifts program (ask your HR Department), request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest.
INVITE FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO CONTRIBUTE
Invite your loved ones to support LFCSA’s progressive education by contributing tax deductible donations that will directly impact your child’s education.
PARTICIPATE IN LFCSA’S FUNDRAISING EVENTS
Our outstanding Fundraising Committee produces several key events throughout the year to build relationships within our community, share our vision with those outside our school, and of course, to raise money.
Did you know that many businesses such as Target and Amazon, will donate a percentage of the price of your eligible purchases to the non profit organization of your choice?
